I think I want to hang out with Lee Brice. He and I seem to have a lot in common. We both like to make people smile, we love a good party and a cold beer. I think we could be singing and dancing into the wee hours….if only that could happen.
Brice and his band sauntered onto the stage at Stir Cove on Thursday night, and the full- house of country music lovers had just as much fun as Brice and I did. After a couple of intro songs, he went to the rear of his stage, opened his portable refrigerator and pulled out a couple of cold ones. He threw one to the lucky guy in front of me – and then chugged his own to the last drop. He followed that up with his song “Beer” and we were rockin’ in the house the rest of the night.
This “I Drive Your Truck” songster is such a congenial entertainer and his infectious smile never left his face. His songs all have some guts to them – whether through his words or through the instrumentals. Never having seen him prior to now, I was so overwhelmingly surprised and it didn’t take me long to get into the country rock mode.
Brice is a Grammy nominated singer and has only been ‘around’ officially since 2007. I would venture to say that the hits and highlights of this entertainer will just keep coming. Now, if I could only get him to my July 4th backyard barbecue……
