Boots and ball caps were abundant in the Cove Sunday night when Randy Houser graced the amphitheater platform. It was a warm evening, but the real heat was emanating from the stage. Houser and his fabulously talented band gave it all they had and the packed house was rollicking and responsive.
The show was complete with great lights and video screen accompaniment, and it all came together in an event that had everyone singing and stomping their feet. There were swing dancers aplenty in the shoulder to shoulder bowl.
Houser has strong and powerful vocals and he loves to be at one with his audience. His platform stretched out into the pit, and he spent much time shaking hands and greeting his fans, all while delivering every note on pitch and never missing a beat. I could only hope for so much energy!
Songs from his past (which isn’t that long ago) and songs from his new album kept the masses more than pleased. “Fired Up” was a house favorite, and everyone joined Houser in the delivery. I fell hard for “Goodnight Kiss” and I’m still singing that catchy chorus continuously!
Houser was gracious and appreciative, but it was his immensely robust and solid performance that won me over. The sound Sunday night was absolutely the best and everything was clear and pristine. This isn’t my Daddy’s country music!
Wowza – every time I go to the Cove, I am reminded of just how lucky we are to have such an incredible environment to witness such incredible talent. It’s a pretty magic marriage and one that you should be a part of. There are so many great shows left this season, and it’s easy to be a participant.
