OMAHA, Nebraska - The Verdict Bar & Grill will open its doors Friday, June 5th, 2015 for its Grand Opening in the well-known 1901 Harney Street location that was previously occupied by Bishop’s Bar & Grill and the Bear Trap Bar.  Although the space has been completely remodeled and bears little resemblance to that of its previous tenants, the partners behind The Verdict are focused on creating an urban contemporary bar, restaurant, and lounge to appeal to the area’s professional workers and residents.

Several employees of businesses in the immediate area, such as MUD, AIM/Careerlink, Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha, Woodmen, Douglas County and the City of Omaha have expressed great enthusiasm over the opening of the new bar and restaurant.  As the immediate area is currently the focus of much redevelopment, the partners of The Verdictare excited to be part of the improvements.

A&M, L.L.C., comprised of Scott Adams, Mike Meyer, Jim Kaup, and Eric Swenson who have been long-time friends, but also worked together at a local bar and restaurant that closed its doors in 2006.  The four were long-time patrons of Bishop’s and say “when the opportunity presented itself, we had to look into it further.”  Scott, who has much experience in bar and restaurant management will be leading the operations of the new venture.

The Verdict will be open for lunch Monday - Friday, as well as open at night all week except for Sundays.  However, “there are some ideas surfacing about opening for Sunday morning breakfast.” said partner Scott Adams.  The Verdict will also stay open late on Fridays and Saturdays with a breakfast menu from Midnight until 3 a.m.  The new bar, restaurant, and lounge will offer daily and week specials and plans to continue the participation in the Karaoke circuit on either Friday or Saturday nights.  The menu is said to offer something for everyone, including some unusual and unique offerings.  “We also plan on offering a variety of red and white wines and a lounge area to our patrons.” said partner Mike Meyer.  For more information please visit

“The name, The Verdict, is two-fold,” said partner Jim Kaup.  Yes, it is related to the bars physical location next to the well-known Omaha landmark, the Douglas County Courthouse.  But, it’s also the answer to the common question when you’re asking your friends what they want to do on a particular night.  “So, what’s the verdict?  The verdict is...The Verdict!”
