This Friday we will be hosting TWO tapping events! One for beer and one for cider!
On the beer side, we have a very special tapping party for Empyrean Brewing Company's Beer Quest winning Winter Ale, originally brewed by the Lincoln homebrew team of Tim Oehlerking and Jacob Miller. The theme of the contest was SMaSH beers (Single Malt and Single Hop), with the winning recipe using just Munich Malt, Polaris hops, water and yeast.
Brewery description: "Brewed with a single hop and a single malt for an aroma of fresh berries and flavor of toasted malt and mild hop bitterness with a refreshing hint of mint (from the hops). An enjoyable session ale."
Tim and Jacob will be down to enjoy their winning beer with everyone, so come down and congratulate them over a pint or two!
As for the apples, we will be featuring two fantastic ciders from Glacial Till, a Vineyard and Winery located near Ashland, Nebraska! We got a sneak peak at this year's Okto Beerfest, and our minds were blown! We'll be tapping both the Original and Winter Blend.
A word from the creators: "When we planted the first acre of grapes, we were looking for a hobby that would provide fruit for amateur wine making. Mike Murman, the owner of Glacial Till Vineyard & Winery, has always had an interest in winemaking and has been making small batches of wine in his basement for the last thirty years. With an interest to improve the quality of wine he could make, he turned to growing his own fruit. In subsequent years, Mike's belief in quality grapes, coupled with his skill in winemaking, has resulted in several silver, gold and best-of-show amateur winemaking awards.
What started as a hobby, quickly turned into a passion when a record harvest in 2006 produced more wine than one family could drink. With a surplus of wine, we decided to share our love for crafting quality wines with others. In 2007, we constructed a building for Glacial Till Vineyard & Winery operations. In 2008, GTV became a bonded winery and was open to the public in the summer of 2009. Cheers!"
