Dr. Marissa Vigneault, guest curator and former professor of practice of modern and contemporary art at the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, will lead a discussion on the work of artists Bruce and Jean Conner which are the subject of the exhibition "Some Place Not Too Far Away: Bruce and Jean Conner at the University of Nebraska."
Bruce Conner and Jean Sandstedt met in a painting class at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1954. They married in 1957 and remained together until Bruce's death in 2008. The exhibition includes works by both the Conners and their professors. "Some Place Not Too Far Away" examines the influence of the university's art department-as well as the surrounding political, cultural, and geographic environment-on these two artists.
