Delta Spirit have announced the first round of guest musicians for their intimate summer tour. Billed as "An Evening with Delta Spirit and Friends," the band will bring together close friends to join them for guest appearances at shows around the country. Guests confirmed so far include members of Deer Tick, Dr. Dog, and The Walkmen, Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), T. Hardy Morris, Robert Ellis, Sam Outlaw, Richie Eaton, Jessica Dobson and Amasa Hines, with many more major surprise guests to be announced soon.
This will be the last chance to see Delta Spirit perform live for quite a while, says front man Matt Vasquez, before the band takes an extended break from the road to focus on writing new music.
Inspired in part by The Band's "The Last Waltz," each stop on the the tour will feature a one-of-a-kind live set, and collaborations with different guests in each city. "We really wanted to do something unique and personal on this tour, and give fans a rare chance to see us perform in intimate venues," Vasquez says. "We're going to do some deep cuts from our albums, covers of some of our favorite jams, and some reworked and stripped down versions of our most popular songs."
The set will also features songs from Delta Spirit's recent LP 'Into the Wide' (Dualtone Records), their highest charting release to date.
