Stinson Park



On Sunday, September 11, 2016, honor the lives lost in 9/11 by joining city leaders and fellow members of the community at Stinson Park for a Minute of Silence followed by a day spent reuniting as a community.

The Minute of Silence ceremony is free and open to the public. Starting at noon, entry to the park is just $10, however entry is free to those who attend the Minute of Silence Ceremony; first responders and their immediate families; and children 12 and under.

9:00am-1:00pm - Farmer's Market

Activities will pause at 9:11am for 60 seconds to recognize the Minute of Silence.

9:11am - 3rd Annual Minute of Silence Ceremony (arrive no later than 9:00am)

Join government officials, first responders, and members of the community for the Minute of Silence ceremony to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11. The ceremony will include distinguished speakers, singing performances, pipe and drums, and is followed with a flyover. Anyone who attends this ceremony will receive a special wristband to get into the park free in the afternoon.

12:00-4:30pm - Acoustic Sets, Art, & Dance

Enjoy acoustic music and live art throughout the day as the kids have fun with the many entertainment options we have organized throughout the park. The River City Shakers and Rednecks will be set up in all 4 corners of Stinson park giving instruction on how to participate in the World Record Breaking Swing Dance at 5pm!

5:00pm - World Record Breaking Swing Dance & Tribute Video

Interested in breaking a Guinness World Record? Join us in an official attempt to break a World Record by having the largest group of people doing the same choreographed dance simultaneously! The dance is five consecutive minutes of unison swing dance with four basic moves. Come early the day of the event to practice as there will be dance clinics available in all 4 corners of the park starting at noon.

6:00pm - Live Concert

A concert starting at 6pm will feature Aaron Kantor, Heidi Henry, and High Heel the Band. Dallas Hendrix, a country group from Nashville, is headlining and will perform "Blue," a tribute song for fallen Omaha officer Kerrie Orozco, and "Heroes," a song written in honor of 9/11.

9:11pm - Special Tribute

Music headliner Dallas Hendrix has prepared a special tribute.

All Day - Kids Activities, Food, Drinks, and More!

There will be kids activities throughout the day, including face painting, a balloon artist, splash pads, and dance lessons. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and drinks will be available for purchase for a suggested donation. A VIP area exclusively for first responders and their families will be provided with complimentary food, refreshments and shade.
