Prairie Cats hail from the heart of the heartland but are known the world over. Formed in 1998 in Omaha, Nebraska, the seven-piece band delivers an all-original mix of swing, jazz, and jump-blues.
Prairie Cats have performed at the prestigious South by Southwest music festival in Ausin, Texas, Hollywood's famous Derby Lounge (as seen in the movie Swingers), and Windows on the World at the World Trade Center (June, 2001). In 2007 and 2008, the Prairie Cats were included on several Sony/BMG compilations throughout Europe alongside the likes of Tony Bennett and Natalie Cole.
Closer to home, the band has twice broken the all-time attendance record at Omaha's Jazz on the Green Festival-drawing over 10,000 spectators for each show, and in June, 2007, Prairie Cats performed at the opening ceremonies for the NCAA College World Series. And, of course, the band has performed at Omaha's Summer Arts Festival.
The band's new recording is scheduled for release in late spring 2009.
