6:30-7:30: Dance Lessons by the Jitterbugs
Come get a full hour of dance lessons by the OMAHA JITTERBUGS! OMAHA JITTERBUGS IS A NON-PROFIT organization which, at its core, is about loving dance. The social swing dances of the first half of the 20th century are a catalyst for connecting with others, for discovering or re-discovering oneself, for gaining focus or perspective for life, and for experiencing the joy that is inherent in the dance.
OMAHA JITTERBUGS IS COMMITTED to providing opportunities for all this and more by offering free dance lessons at Ozone on Thursday, November 17th!. Our pastime fuses entertainment and history and creates a charming and compelling environment for people of all ages. We invite you to come out let yourself go. Smile. Laugh. Get involved. Tell your friends. And most of all, have fun.
7:30-9:30: Prairie Cats
Omaha's own Prairie Cats, formed in 1998, are an 8-piece "pop-swing" band delivering an original mix of jump blues, big band, rockabilly, latin, and bop, delivered in an all-out rock attack. But make no mistake about it -- it all swings, Jack!
Nationally, Prairie Cats have rocked numerous venues from Hollywood to South by Southwest to New York City. Closer to home, the Cats have been a local favorite at Jazz on the Green and the Summer Arts Festival. Their three albums of original music (The Big One, 'Til the Daytime Fades, and The Fires Below) have earned rave reviews and strong sales around the world.
Prairie Cats took a long-overdue breather in 2012, but are now back and better than ever with several new songs under their belts, along with all their fan favorites. So step on out and swing with the Cats!
