August 15th, 2015 will be our 5th Annual Memory Lane Motorcycle Ride. When we started this ride four years ago we had no idea it would become as big as it has. We started this ride in honor and remembrance of our son, Lane. Lane was five months and seven days old when he became our guardian angel.
August 17th, 2011 Lane was found unresponsive on an adult bed, surrounded by pillows and blankets at his licensed day care providers home. We lost Lane to Sudden Unexplained Infant Death, which is preventable when certain precautions and procedures are followed. It has been a rough road but with all the support we have had from family and friends, we have been able to try and turn something so devastating into something positive for Lane’s memory to live on.
The Lay Me Down For Lane campaign started to help prevent others to have to go through the loss of a child. We donate car seat/diaper bag tags, magnets, shirts and posters to doctor’s offices and day cares to help educate new and existing parents. We go and talk to groups that as us to come share our story. We just want to help others in any way we can. With the money raised we are able to keep getting the items we need to be able to hand them out at community parades or any time.
We look forward to this year’s ride and watching it continue to grow. Just seeing everyone come out to ride for Lane and support our cause brings a smile to my face. I have to say that for as little as Lane was he has made quite an impact on a lot of people. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and can’t wait to see everyone August 15th
